In the portrait of the Sao Paulo view on Friday, August 3, 2007, an undeniable difference between the local resident, the viewer/voyeur and the ownership of a shared physical experience become the underlying dynamics within an
intuitive moment.

The installation moves the participant and the media in
and out of the physical reality of the space, pulling the perception of self from the virtual space of the cinematic vision to the juxtaposed multi-planed expansion of the media.

In the three-channel installation, the central view replaces space with time as the distance between the viewer/voyeur and the citizen “actor” is revealed. The citizen/voyeur relationship is established and yet remains anonymous a
nd undetected. The unknowing citizen on the other hand, becomes an icon of identity, isolated and physically
dissected through the space establishing a
three-dimensional relationship with the viewer. This creates
a physical tension between the spatial movement of the deconstructed video and the virtual zoom of the central
piece. Isolating the macro perspective as the smallest
view, the infinity of the immeasurable horizon changes the participants’ status, as all become included in an intangible spatial relationship through the removal of human-scale associations.

This conceptual deconstruction creates layers of time and space for the viewer to examine their physical and virtual relationships, allowing the individual to have a multitude o
f roles in their own observations.
