Biography
Artist Danielle Roney examines modernization and global identity structures through installation, digital media and public intervention. After studying at the University of Georgia in Sculpture and Digital Media, she has held studios in Los Angeles, Atlanta and Beijing, China. She has presented her Global Portals project to TEDGlobal 2005 in Oxford, England, to 300 of the world’s leading innovators, and continued live interactions from Johannesburg, South Africa to Atlanta in 2007.
Roney has exhibited at numerous museums and universities including Beijing Off-Biennale 2005, The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, and the South by East Biennale in Boca Raton, Florida. Her recent media project, eGoli premiered as part of her solo exhibition, Genesis Trial: Johannesburg, at MOCA-GA and travels to the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago as part of the current The Edge of Intent exhibition; a centennial celebration of Daniel Burnham’s 1909 plan for the city of Chicago.
Danielle has been supported through numerous grants including Sony Electronics, the Loridans Foundation Arts Achievement Award and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia Working Artist Project Grant and featured in the top 50 emerging international artists 2006 by Contemporary magazine, London. Her work is represented by Kiang Projects - Beijing/Atlanta.
